11:12 am - i think you mean dim-wit?

the Wit

(69% dark, 26% spontaneous, 27% vulgar)

your humor style:
CLEAN | COMPLEX | DARK

You like things edgy, subtle, and smart. I guess that means you're probably an intellectual, but don't take that to mean pretentious. You realize 'dumb' can be witty--after all isn't that the Simpsons' philosophy?--but rudeness for its own sake, 'gross-out' humor and most other things found in a fraternity leave you totally flat.

I guess you just have a more cerebral approach than most. You have the perfect mindset for a joke writer or staff writer.

Your sense of humor takes the most thought to appreciate, but it's also the best, in my opinion.

PEOPLE LIKE YOU: Jon Stewart - Woody Allen - Ricky Gervais

AND FINALLY -- after you rate my test with a sweet, sweet '5' -- you must take this test next: The Genghis Khan Genetic Fitness Test. It's not mine, but it rocks.

but damn, i recorded myself and i have to admit, i fucking rocked it today.

05:15 pm - face it, you are young

this weekend was simply amazing. thanks again to everyone who came to spend time with me, who called, and who made my birthday special. because of you all, i don't feel so terrible about being older.

so, in a nutshell...

friday was manny's birthday and i had to work. a bit of a bummer but not terrible. came home, cleaned up, wrapped the rest of his gifts, and waited for him to come home from his trip for fireworks. set off a few when he came home, then gave him his presents, which he loved. digital camera, books, cd's, and a few silly little things. i'm an awesome fiancee *grins* after that we went to see star wars. in my opinion, i'm sorry i gave george lucas even more money than he already has. i was bored from start to finish, i have to admit it. but i've never been a huge star wars fan, so i guess that doesn't count for much. manny wasn't thrilled either though, so i felt better. then we came home and had cake and, well, we'll leave it at that! *evil grin* he had a really good time in between sam rivers on wednesday and all the fun of friday and saturday, so i think his day was as great as mine, and that makes me extremely happy.

saturday we went to see my family. had a cookout and cake, drank some beer with my stepmom, got some cash for bills (same thing i've gotten every year since i turned 21), and saw my siblings. it was a lot of fun and my family is awesome as usual. my dad started his own business and it's doing really well, so i'm proud of him. got home, rested, got dressed, and then everyone came over so we could go to eola wine company. i felt so spoiled, everyone got me such great gifts! i got books from bet and from ryan - sylvia plath from bet and this sweet essay on bullshit from ryan. got katamari damacy from rick, and a shower caddy for my lush stuff from tadd and heather. also, i am receiving a custom made coffee table book from them about my boston trip. that was so sweet i almost started to cry - no one's ever done anything like that for me before! then it was off for drinks, which started out poorly due to it being crowded but ended wonderfully, partially thanks to bet being our hero and getting us a good spot to sit! i got a piece of cake from heather as well as the song. got tipsy, had pictures, spilled drinks like i always do, and just had a great time with my friends who i adore. when we got home, ryan and bet stayed until almost five, then bet wound up crashing on the couch. on a scale of 1 to 10 saturday was a 25! and eola wine company is a really cool place, i highly recommend it.

sunday we just got up and spent most of the day nursing slight hangovers and playing video games. then manny took me out to dinner at this beautiful french restaurant in winter park. the food was so good! and the staff were really nice - they gave us a complimentary birthday dessert and glass of port, which i had never had before. it was wonderful. after that, we went to virgin megastore and bought some music, then home to bed. on my actual birthday i opened my gifts from manny. he spoiled me, too! i got a huge stash of stuff from lush, the nick hornby book i wanted, the dressy bessy cd i wanted, a bottle of wine, a cheesy but funny wineglass, a sily video game (parappa the rapper 2, if you must know!), and a gift card to the gap, which we promptly went to the mall to spend. played more games, then heather and tadd came over so we could set off fireworks. we were no match for the rednecks around us, but it was fun, i guess. as much fun as girls have with fireworks ha ha!

so yes, i had a fantastic birthday, a wonderful weekend, and i love love love my friends to death! enough said there besides thanks again and you guys are the fucking best. rock.

now if only my 5th of july were as good. i was the victim of a hit and run on my way to work...this elderly man turned in front of me illegally, hit my front passenger end, and drove off before i could even get into the turn lane and out of my car to inspect the damage. that fucker. plus, i was on my way to work without a lunch break because the girl who works with me had her husband sent to the hospital from work, so she needed to get out of there quickly. i had to leave and get to work, i couldn't hold her up becaue it was an emergency, and since there didn't seem to be too much damage i figured it was a sucky inconvenience but no big deal. but, my head hurts because the impact slammed it into my driver's side window and i have a little goose egg. plus, i think my alignment is off now because i have trouble making left turns without my steering wheel feeling slightly off kilter and my wheels squealing. i called the winter park police and they basically laughed in my face and said since i left the scene, didn't have any information on who hit me, and there were no injuries, there was nothing they could do. and since the damage will be significantly less than my deductible, i can't exactly file a claim either. my stupidity of course, but what could i have done really? at least the car is driveable and it won't cost much to fix the alignment - i hope! and luckily today has been one of those uneventful days i can't really complain about. i'm content enough, with everything. it's a nice feeling.

03:32 pm - something resembling an update as promised.

indeed, i have returned from my boston adventure. it was, in a word, amazing. the scenery is gorgeous, the buildings and houses are like nothing i've ever seen before. the people are laid back. i'm in love with the accent and vernacular. it's like another world up there and i loved it! we stayed with heather's grandparents, who are some of the nicest people i've had the luck to meet. actually, her whole family is cool - they're sweet and funny and very close-knit. i got to learn all kinds of interesting facts about their family history, and i don't think i've laughed that much in a while. they're just a lot of fun. the weather was a bit iffy in the beginning though it got better as the time went on. when we got there it was raining and in the forties! being a florida girl by birth, i was amazed that it could even get that low in may since by late march or april here it's already in the eighties some days.

here's the play-by-play of what we did:

all in all this trip was one i'll never forget. not only did i have a lot of fun but i got to meet a ton of nice people and i feel like i got much closer to heather. i can't say enough how thankful i am that she went with me and put up with my shit! seriously heather, you are the best and i love you. now it's back to reality and back to work!

12:20 am - all right. i tried to not take this personally but...

here is an article i read in today's paper, entitled as such:

"religious leaders prepare demands"

america's conservative religious leaders, credited with providing the margin of victory for president bush's re-election, are ready to present the white house with a bill for services rendered. the list, they say, is a lengthy one, beginning with the nomination of supreme court justices who will overturn the landmark roe vs. wade decision on abortion, increased support for a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, and a larger role in policing decency for the federal communications commission. conservative religious leaders also want to further limit federal support for stem cell research, increase "abstinence only" sex education, and ban human cloning and international population programs that include abortion.

no. nonononono!!!!! what the fuck is wrong with fifty one percent of america that they forget we're at war and massively in debt just to vote on how they feel about gays and abortion? and who says you have the right to "demands"? i'm not saying this out of sour grapes. i knew bush was going to win another term even though i voted for kerry, so this is not me just trying to be pissy. i was ready to support any sort of bipartisan effort to get our country back to the way it needs to be. this is not the way to do it though. sorry, liberal view or not, this country is founded on the ideals of separation of church and state. and you know what? it's not that way so we can protect the church from the state. it's so the millions of people who live here can do so in a harmonious fashion without having to conform to the ideals of whatever religion the guy that's in charge is at the time. people say kerry was being wishy washy when he said he was against abortion but wouldn't ban it. not true. if you were paying attention what you would realize he said was this:

"i am catholic. i personally do not condone abortion. however, many other people in this nation are not catholic. some are athiest, some are protestant, some are muslim. who am i to tell the entire nation they have to conform to MY ideal of what's right just because i'm in charge?" makes sense to me. what does not make sense to me is the fact that now for some reason all of america is expected to soon live under extreme, evangelical, overtly biased religious views just because the religious people voted bush and they voted on "social issues". as for me, no way.

nobody is going to tell me what i can and cannot do with my body. NO ONE! that is my decision to make and as long as i am breathing it will remain my decision. gays getting married has nothing to do with the success of your heterosexual marriage, espcially since straight people do much kinkier stuff in bed. i guarantee if two gay men were getting married in florida right now it would never, ever affect me. i absolutely will not let a bunch of extreme right wing types decide what's best for the country because they think it's owed to them because they voted for bush. fuck that. what we need to do is focus on the important issues at hand. like how we're going to get out of iraq. how we're going to fix social security without treating it like betting on a dog at the race track. how we're going to catch the real criminal of bin laden rather than spout rhetoric about how safe we are now that saddam has been caught. i watched the news all night, we're bombing the shit out of falluja. that's not the world being a better place, no matter what you're told.

ugh. i don't know what to say. i don't disagee with morals. i just think they're personal and that you can carry them out and live a good life on your own terms without relegating them to the government. there's also a difference between your morals and your religion.

so yeah. if you don't agree, fine. just be warned that you're trespassing on liberal property and can't expect anything else from me! i've played nice up until now but sorry, churches will not tell me how to live my life. i am incensed.

08:16 pm - election night commentary

maybe a running one, maybe not.

first of all, you shouldn't be allowed to vote if:
you don't know the names of either party's running mates
you didn't bother to watch even one debate in order to get a grasp on the issues
you didn't do any research on either national or state issues (especially the amendments)
you can't spell the word amendment
you had to ask why there wasn't a republican primary this year
you did it because a celebrity told you it was cool

sorry, i just think that if you're going to vote you should treat it with the seriousness it deserves. read up on the issues, do internet research, talk to people who hold an opinion on both sides. oh, and you should have just the tiniest bit of actual intelligence about the way our governement works. yeah, we need people to vote but it's not going to do us any good if everyone who votes is an idiot. i'm not the smartest girl in the world but i can say that i've paid close attention to this for months. luckily a lot of us have, but there's still the morons out there who need to learn.

so far so good for john kerry though....77 electoral votes to bush's 66. although bush is stomping kerry in florida and so far the amendments are being passed willy-nilly. i'm going to be pissed if they don't repeal that light rail and raise the minimum wage.

and yeah, just so you know...it's not what i want at all but i'm not an idiot either and i've already accepted the fact of another four years. i am hoping to be surprised but not counting on it. whatever happens happens though and it's going to be a long night so we shall see...

EDIT at 9:30
*******************************************************************************

okay, most of the amendments have been passed. luckily we are repealing the light rail and raising the minimum wage. unfortunately, we are also going to use gambling money to supplement education. oh well. at least the really important ones are good. i feel particularly strongly about a few others but that's just personal opinion that doesn't affect anything one way or the other.

kerry is getting stomped right now, 112 to bush's 170. like i said, i am accepting it... but come on ohio! make the right choice since us idiots here in florida cannot. if kerry loses ohio then it's all over.

what am i doing up?

so i feel like death and i'm still covered in fake blood. since i've been partying all weekend and it's just now halloween, is that a good thing?

so the parties....friday night i went to this kid eric's house. i know him from PRK, he's a really nice guy. i didn't think it was going to be as much fun as it turned out to be. most of the people there were nice, there were some amazingly funny costumes. it was a "two things at once" type of thing, so one girl was a spork, one guy was had a witch hat with a doctor's outfit, one was a redneck vampire with a mullet and the cop glasses. good stuff! some of the kids got worse as time and alcohol were progressing but altogether it was worth it to go. met a very nice guy who was from my hometown as well as a girl who i'm not sure about because she's massively pretentious. but all in all a decent affair. last night was our party which if i do say so myself was short lived but still quite fun. short lived thanks to the time change and the fact that everyone got far too drunk far too quickly. or maybe it just felt short? dunno. anyways, it was fun. here's the rundown of costumes and such:

me-weird silly devil thing. i am sure you shall see pictures.
manny-weird scary monkey jesus thing. words can't do it justice
bryan-executioner sometimes wearing manny's monkey mask
tadd and heather-awesome ninja and geisha girl thing going on. loved it!
bet and jessica-bet was michael jackson with a little boy. had a doll stuffed head down in his pants all night. awesome! jessica had the balls to wear a sheet with eyeholes and be an old school ghost. it was cute!
eric wimberly showed up as the anthrax delivering mailman.
some friends of bryan's showed up in stuff. i think one girl was a pirate?
some friends of eric the mailman showed up and were offended because i didn't recognize they were harry potter and hermione. like i read that tripe.
some kids from the friday party showed up. cool! also weird because we didn't invite them and they were the ones who we thought were the biggest jerks out of the whole affair. but they were nice at my house minus the girl who was the overly pretentious one mentioned above. i still did my best to be super friendly though.
scott and sandy had no costumes. boo! hiss!
windy was a mental patient
chris showed up with no costume but brought his little boy who turned out to be my biggest accessory because he was dressed up just like me! horns and wings. i hope someone got a picture.

anyways, it was a good time. drinking. talking. music. i danced a little with some guy who didn't have a costume so we put all the cat toys on him and made him a cat magnet. drunkenly decided to put fake blood all over myself because i can't refuse suggestions when i have been drinking and had to be assisted in the washing off of it. thank you, tadd! had a long discussion with bryan on the merits of hummus. watched the baby play "eat the camera", "eat the cell phone", "attempt to eat the cigarettes while daddy laughs", and "sneak attack the cats". more drinking and talking. i made the usual drunken ass out of myself that i normally do. yeah go me! then it was time for sleep and the time changed and here i am getting ready to clean my wreck of a house and recover. thank goodness october is over.

09:33 pm - uh, stuff?

mmmm, stuff...

things are okay. work is good even though i have to admit a lot of the tenants in my building are jerks. but, they keep their distance and i have an awesome boss so i can't complain.

today's horoscope: you'll probably want to cuddle with your sweetheart all day but something will stop you. either noise or another matter that you'll probably need to take care of first. quite appropriate since i was tempted to call in sick to work today and hang out with my boyfriend all day.

gym time and diet are going well. i am officially the smallest i've been in probably five years. by xmas i will be one foxy mama!

i've been reading some really good books lately. nothing too educational, but good nonetheless. and no, it's not harry potter crap! irvine welsh and jeffrey eugenides. i must say both kept me quite captivated.

next week at this time will be election night coverage. i'm so excited i can't stand it. i plan on sitting home all night watching cnn. yes i am a dork.

the past few nights have been soaked in booze. sunday night we just went out for a few pints and chatted. last night i went to see ted leo at the social with manny and bryan and we sat at bbq bar for two hours before ted leo came onstage and drank like little fishies. bryan and i fucked up some bust-a-move, too. the show was great. if you've never listened to him before, check it out. intelligent punk at its finest. next stop - kraftwerk!

this weekend is halloween goodness. i can't wait for the party, i hope it turns out to be a good time. manny's costume is hysterical. really, it tops last year. mine is silly but whatever, it works.

i feel pretty good but i can't exactly put that into words. just nicely content. sweet...

i've been feeling quite peachy these days.

work is awesome, i love it.

i'm getting healthier and i love that, too. i work out three times a week, take omega 3 supplements, and have been much better about drinking water and watching what i eat. and even though it's slow going, i'm getting results. i haven't felt this good about how i look in many years!

next week marks one year that i have worked at PRK. self indulgent, yes. but i am happy to listen to myself now and hear vast improvement. and i'm not trying to sound conceited but it makes me proud when people say they enjoy listening to me. adrian is the sweetest, she says she loves my show and never misses it. today, a guy called and said he listens every week but never calls to bug me because "i always get it right". i know i still have a long way to go, but that gives me a nice sense of accomplishment.

i am proud of manny. he is officially a UCF student now! in a year he will have his bachelors. also, we have many things planned as a couple that i am greatly looking forward to. things of the house and marriage variety. eeek!

even though i don't go out as frequently, i have been feeling good about my relationships with people, too. i am becoming closer to many good people and sometimes wonder what i ever saw in some of the ones from my past. this is due to me not only becoming smarter about who i spend time with, but also concentrating very hard on being a good friend in return. i am not perfect, i have hurt people before, and i have had my share of fault in every burned bridge. i will never deny that, i regret it like any normal person would, and i am learning how to be a better person as a result. luckily, it's easier to be a good person when you don't hang out with jerks. because yeah i accept my share of blame in things but i also know that people have fucked me over big time, too.

random minutae:

sunday i am going to see the pixies. kraftwerk in november. exciting! other shows i want to see are the faint, saturday looks good to me, ted leo and the pharmacists, rilo kiley, and scissor sisters. let's see how many of these i actually make it to!

i also want to see many movies. i HAVE to see the new john waters and the new todd solondz. plus i must see "team america" because i know that's going to be hysterical, and i am considering seeing "i heart huckabees". yeah, movies are stupid fodder for a post but i could care less.

i am in a tizzy over politics and world affairs. will save that for after tonight's debate in which george bush is going to look like a drooling retard yet again. he's only intelligable when someone's written what he's saying. i almost want to say i will become a born again christian if he loses the election but i think that's going overboard. anyways, more after the debate. and yes, i am a dork and am staying home on a friday night to watch it. why? because i give a shit about what goes on in the world. so fuck you! ha!

much good music is out and waiting for you to pick it up. the new le tigre album is goddamn amazing! also check out "dangerous dreams" by moving units, "power" by Q and not U, the new nancy sinatra album which has duets with morrissey and jarvis cocker, and william shatner's album. no i am not joking. it's hysterical! he covers pulp's "common people'! i played it today and nearly peed myself laughing.

in summation, life is ice cream sundae with a cherry on top good right now. and it makes me quite happy!
